Construction Craft Laborers (CCL’s) are members of the Laborers’ International Union of North America who work on small to large scale construction, demolition or environmental clean-up projects. CCL’s build highways, bridges, stadiums, schools, power plants, pipelines, commercial and light commercial buildings as well as remove asbestos containing materials and lead based paint. CCL’s perform the most diverse types of work of any other Union trade. CCL Apprentices earn no less than $16.00/hr to start and over the course of their apprenticeship program advance to a pay rate in the $22.00 to $25.00 an hour depending on the task they are performing and the geographical area they are working. Additionally, CCL’s enjoy a fringe benefit package including family health care insurance and a pension program valued at nearly $15.00 an hour for each hour worked. Apprenticeship related and journeyman upgrade training are offered at three locations in Michigan at no cost to CCL’s and often include valuable 3rd party certifications and credit towards an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Industrial Technology.
